Metal Gear Solid Race Mod
A stage data mod designed to create a more speedrunner-friendly version of MGS1, while attempting to retain the spirit of the game and minimise strategy and routing changes.
This mod is a work in progress and features are subject to change or removal.
Some features may also require the Race Mod Companion patch provided by the MGSI Launcher, which is not yet available.

- Replace

Changes
- Skip cutscenes (WIP)
- Forced codecs changed to optional (WIP)
- Boss continues & saves changed to start at the boss itself (WIP)
- [Companion Required] Press the number row keys on the New Game menu to seed the randomness of elevators and PAL Key location
- Dock elevator timer reduced by 59.33 seconds (from 2:00.00 to 1:00.67)
- Guard Encounter cell door opens immediately
- Rank Up animation after Tank restored when loading into Nuke Building 1F
- Skip Meryl's claymore walk
- Prison sequence starts at Otacon's arrival
- Inventory removed at start of prison sequence in Any%
- Otacon as partner and no Timer Bomb in Any% without having to submit to torture
- [Companion Required] When in the proximity of the iced door in Comms Tower A, taking light damage will always trigger the correct hurt animation for Boba skip
- Cargo elevator travel phases skipped
- PAL key rat/ditch alert crossover reduced by 3 (from 11 to 8)

When you retrieve the PAL key, you have the option to return to Blast Furnace straight away to heat and use it on the third computer. Details:
- The progress-based head start on cooling/heating is available as soon as you collect the PAL key
- All computers can be used if key is the appropriate variant (only hot key required to progress)
- Warehouse changes to guarded variant as soon as you collect the PAL key, if you don't use the normal key first
- Warehouse/Blast Furnace/bottom of Cargo Elevator cooling/heating rate doubled
- Score available on Very Easy
Ideas
- Seeded randomness for Wolf 1/2 behaviour
- Port to console version of Integral
Known Issues
Everything.
- The game may crash when using the elevator after Guard Encounter, due to the boss stage variant being loaded afterwards instead of the general variant. If this occurs, you can load a save after Guard Encounter to continue, but you'll lose your seed if you have one.
