Metal Gear Solid Integral Music Pack
This changes the music in MGSI to be higher quality, and to match the PSX version of the game more closely.
It comes in two parts:
- A music pack, which replaces most of the music files with ones taken from higher quality sources, and with more accurate looping. It also contains some extra tracks not available in the original PC version.
- A patch for
mgsi.exe
and mgsvr.exe
, which hijacks the music selection code to change which tracks are played in certain areas. It also stops the game fading music in, which improves the impact of track intros.
The (highly) recommended way to install this (and other patches) is by using MGSI Launcher 1.3 or higher.
Click the Open Patch Installer button and follow the process of downloading the music pack and applying the music patch.
If you really want to install manually, see below.
Download
- Updated 25 Apr 2023: Adjust loop point on track 07 (Armory, was early by 0.2 secs)
- Music pack (62 MB)
- Old music pack (43 MB) - if you used the old pack previously and got used to the music cues, use this to restore individual tracks
Instructions
- Unzip the pack into your
MetalGearSolid
install directory - some of the WAV files in the MDX folder will be replaced
- You will also need to patch your
mgsi.exe
and mgsvr.exe
- choose one of the methods below.
- The patch will not work on the oxide-NL version as-is. This is because the original version of the game (as well as the oxide-NL version) uses a UPX-compressed
mgsi.exe
executable. You must unpack the executable using e.g. the UPX tool first.
